The Company
Our client is a leading construction company operating across the United Kingdom. They are specialist constructors in Retail, Distribution, Education, Local General Contracting and Social Housing employing in the region of 400 staff.
The Role
Based from their office in Leeds they require a Quantity Surveyor, either at Senior or Intermediate level to work on food retail / supermarket construction and refurbishment projects nationwide.
Quantity Surveyor Key Accountabilities:
• Develop and maintain effective communications with new and existing customers to negotiate contracts that contribute to the Company’s objectives.
• Identify and manage risk in the Company’s activities and take responsibility for reporting risks in a timely, open and appropriate manner.
• Negotiation, drafting and reviewing of contracts and contractual changes to existing arrangements as necessary as a result of the above.
• Act as the commercial and legal interface between the Company and Client.
• Oversee and report on the activities of the Estimating and Buying Departments, taking responsibility for delivery of key objectives in these areas.
• Manage and develop direct reporting staff in the Estimating and Buying Departments.
• Manage and control departmental expenditure within agreed budgets.
• Liaise with other managers so as to understand all necessary commercial aspects and needs of each department.
• Ensure all Directors / Senior Managers are fully informed of the Company’s commercial objectives and requirements, potential risks, etc.
• Additional relevant duties as directed by senior management.
The Person
The successful Quantity Surveyor MUST have worked for a Main / Principal contractor on Food Retail / Supermarket related new-build, extension and refurbishment projects. Additional exposure to design & build forms of contract and partnering arrangements is also highly desirable.
